Founded in 1919, Camp Winnebago has
had only four owners in the course of its long history. While
many activities have changed over time, the natural beauty of
our landscapes and our guiding principles have remained the same.
Our goals are respecting ourselves and others,
mastering new skills and perfecting old one, acting kindly, cooperating,
and cultivating strength of character. Everything else we do,
including all the fun, is simply the process of putting those
values into effect.
At Camp Winnebago, we work to expand every boy's horizons
by giving him a safe environment in which to explore as many
different paths as he chooses. Boys from near as Maine and as
far away as China with interests and skills as varied as their
origins come here and know our programs was designed just for
them.
When he leaves, no matter what his destination, a Winnebagan
understands that playing is just as important as winning, and
the journey, the reward. If you are interested in receiving information

Wilderness Camping Experiences
Overnight camping is a key part of what you will do at Winnebago.
With half your age group, about ten boys, you'll take a mountain
trip of three or four days, and (if you are at Camp for eight
weeks) a canoe trip ranging from three days on a nearby lake
when you are ten years old, to nine days and one hundred miles
on the Allagash River when you are fifteen!
Selected Activities
There are more activities here than you can take in one summer!
But the good news is that you'll choose eight, two at a time,
for ten days each. How about archery, riflery, canoeing, sailing?
Want to be in a play? Make a video? Develop your own picture?
Maybe you'd like to write for the camp newspaper, or make a clay
sculpture. Get the idea?
Evening Programs We are
all one group, and no Winnebago day closes without an all-camp
activity, or evening assembly. These may include theater productions,
skits, talent shows, or unique camp traditions such as the Camper
Hunt or the Winnebago Egg Drop. You'll soon feel the closeness
of the Winnebago "family" and join in "Goodnight,
Winnebago" at the end of each day.

Swimming
We are on a beautiful lake, and you'll get to swim in it twice
a day, instruction in the morning and a fun swim in the afternoon.
Athletics
Love Soccer? Can't get enough basketball? At Winnebago, you'll
get instruction and playing time in virtually all the major team
sports. Of your daily athletic periods, one is instructional
and one is a "Brown and Green" game in your age group.
Not so sure of yourself as an athlete? Don't worry. Winnebago
is about participating, learning, trying hard, doing your best.
You'll find boys of your own ability, and others who'll help
you to achieve your best.
Special Activities As
great as a day is at Winnebago, you'll need a break, so Wednesday
is "Trip Day," when you'll do a different all-day activity,
usually a trip out of camp by hike, canoe or van.
Like to sleep late? How's once a week? On Sunday we have a
later "reveille", and a relaxed morning. (Of course
you can still get up early if you like, and find plenty to do!)
Sunday afternoons are filled with special optional activities,
most of which are not offered on regular days.
Halloween is a great fall holiday. At Winnebago it comes in
the summer, too! And you don't have to go to New Orleans for
Mardi Gras, Casino Night, Derby Day or many others, they're all
at Camp!
